According to the dictionary, fashion is defined as the prevailing style, as in dress or behavior. Prevailing means that is current and up to date. So clothes that are in fashion are the clothes that are new and popular but not all clothes that are in fashion are new. Bootleg jeans that are in fashion now have been worn by people from the 60’s and the 70’s. That doesn’t make it new – the fashion just came back. Another example is the leggings. Leggings are in fashion nowadays but this piece of clothing has been used in old music videos of Madonna, Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson when they were young. So being fashionable doesn’t mean you have to follow the trend. You can just bring back an old one and still be fashionable

For some, it could be old and so not in season but for some, it could be a fashion hit. You can wear those leggings with a plain shirt or with a loud, colorful top. It is up to you whether you can carry it or not. You just have to know how to carry the clothes you wear to be fashionable.
